Detailed description of Champion Lakes Golf Course
Champion Lakes Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Bolivar, Pennsylvania.
Champion Lakes Golf Course first opened for play in 1964. The course was designed, and is owned and operated by two former Pittsburgh Pirates, Jerry Lynch and Major League MVP & Duke University great Dick Groat.
Nestled between the Chestnut Ridge and the Laurel Mountains of Western Pennsylvania, Champion Lakes Golf Club offers golf enthusiasts the best in country club golf course conditions in the scenic, country atmosphere of the Ligonier Valley, just 60 minutes east of Pittsburgh.
Champion Lakes has earned a reputation as a country club open to the public. Its well-groomed greens and fairways reflect the pride and dedication the owners.
Groat and Lynch converted the course from an apple orchard and hand built Champion Lakes into the masterpiece it is today.
Champion Lakes is a wooded, 6,608 yard layout with tightly tree-lined fairways and challenging, but always meticulous greens. The strategically placed lawns and pins present a challenge for even the most competitive golfer, a true testament to the course record of only 5-under par, held by PGA Tour Pro Rocco Mediate, and golf legend Arnold Palmer's low round of 68.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,608 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to a par of 74 and a distance of 5,255 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 2, a par-5 that plays to 539 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 14, a par-3 that plays to 154 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 1, a 436 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Champion Lakes is # 14, the154 yard par-3.

I had a great experience from the time I arrived. The staff was so pleasant and accomadating and the course was beautiful. Great course and I was told they have overnight accomodations. I might just have to plan an overnight. Loved it!!!

A beautiful course in a beautiful mountain setting . Course is reasonably flat considering it is located with wonderful views of the nearby mountains of Ligonier Valley . Just a 5 iron from the greatest course in America . ie Laurel Valley . Why mention this ..the same views .

I have been a member for a number of years and this is the best it has played ever. There is a new course manager that has done a fantastic job. The course is still difficult, but the challenge with its risks and rewards make the course very enjoyable to play.
